Pronoun placement

In short, it is the correct form, according to Normative Grammar prescriptions, to be used within a sentence as to the position of unstressed personal pronouns unstressed in relation to the verb they refer to.

In English, the questions linked to the pronominal placement occur when we use the unstressed personal pronouns next to the verbs - that is, oblique pronouns that are not preceded by a preposition and that are, therefore, clitic, used together with the verbs.

Unlike the personal pronouns of the straight case, the oblique personal pronouns do not have the function of a subject within a sentence, but rather as a complement. To remind, personal oblique unstressed pronouns are: me , you , be , the , the , the , the , you , them , us and you . For example:

  • You didn't tell me anything.
  • I saw you at school.
  • He gave himself up to passion.
  • I helped him with the renovation of the room.
  • Nobody forced them to work so hard.
  • He loved her as he had never loved another girl.
  • The danger did not stop them.
  • Who told you that?
  • The clerk handed over their respective orders.
  • The boss paid us the salary on the fifth business day.
  • Do not settle for little.
